This course is multi-disciplinary, touching on history, medicine, philosophy, social science and theology. Taught on a college level, requirements are papers, oral presentations, case study analyses, and extensive reading. There will be guest speakers. Topics to be covered include ethical decision making, end of life issues, healthcare policy, and medical technology.

This course would be very beneficial for any student interested in a career in medicine or an allied health field. Bioethics is frequently a requirement in those fields and this course will provide a solid introduction to the issues. For the student not interested in the medical field, the course will offer background for an intelligent approach to timely Bioethical issues which are increasingly part of the society in which we live.
