On Wednesday, May 30, CBA held its Annual Mothers’ Review. Mothers’ Review is a special tradition during which CBA honors graduating seniors and their mothers. During this ceremony, mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and special family members were invited onto the field to receive their son’s sword and officer’s hat as a token of appreciation.

On May 2, CBA hosted an Induction Ceremony for the St. Miguel Chapter of the National Honor Society and the St. Benilde Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. Eleven students were inducted into the National Honor Society and 20 students were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. Induction into this prestigious national organization is based upon student efforts and achievements in scholarship, leadership, character, service, and citizenship.

On the weekend of the 17th anniversary of Shrek, our Theatre Department performed their third spring production, Shrek the Musical. The show was a great success, with over 260 people in attendance for Friday night’s performance.

On Saturday, April 14, Awan Jenkins ’18 won the Jazz High School Competition at the 36th Annual New England Saxophone Festival & Competition. As the winner of the competition, Awan was invited to perform as the opening act for the international saxophonist Yosvany Terry. Congratulations Awan!

On Friday, March 16, we celebrated our 9th Annual Purple & Gold Gala at Franklin Plaza. It was a wonderful event that brought together more than 300 family, faculty, and friends of CBA. With the help of sponsors, auction donors, and guests, this year’s gala raised over $129,000, more than ever raised in CBA history at the gala. We are so grateful to our gala co-chairs Michael & Veronica Hicks and Britt & Frieda Carmer, and the gala planning committee who really helped to bring this year’s gala to the next level. On Saturday, January 27, 2018, 15 middle school members of the Lego Robotics Team competed at a First Lego League qualifier tournament at Suny Polytechnic in Albany. The theme of this years tournament was HydroDynamics. CBA housed 2 teams – the CBA Bro Bots and the CBA Brick Brothers.

On January 14, the CBA JROTC program hosted its annual Military Ball at the Marriott Hotel. There were over 400 students and guests in attendance. The evening started with a receiving line, where Cadet Colonel Michael Pumiglia ’18, Major Don Fawthrop, and Dr. Schlegel welcomed everyone. Afterwards, students enjoyed a night of dinner and dancing, and in addition, many Cadets were promoted in front of their dates and fellow Brothers.

On December 27, Coach Dave Doemel ’71 was honored for his 300 wins in a pre-game ceremony prior to the varsity basketball game against LaSalle Institute during the 8th Annual Alumni Basketball Tournament. Coach Doemel attained an impressive record of 300 wins in his 20-year varsity basketball coaching career at CBA. That evening, the Ned McGraw Gymnasium was packed with family, former players, colleagues, and friends, all there to show their support for Coach Doemel.
