COLLEGE COUNSELING
AND GUIDANCE

Guidance Director and StudentsOur academics have prepared you for the next level. Now it’s time to work with our guidance department to get you to the right place.

The Br. Aloysius Myers, FSC Guidance Center adheres to precepts established by St. John Baptist de La Salle, the founder of the Christian Brothers, by emphasizing a personal approach to the individual needs of each student. In conjunction with our fine faculty, we work to assure that each student receives the direction necessary to prepare him for future success. We stand ready to serve our CBA families as their sons progress through their CBA years.

Students are encouraged to make full use of the resources of the Guidance office by accessing the information available on this site as well as stopping into the Guidance Center to make an appointment to personally speak with their counselor.

PROGRAMS

The Middle School program at Christian Brothers Academy strives to welcome students to our school community and introduces them to the LaSallian tradition of Catholic education. During these years, the Guidance Office helps to enhance the academic needs and talents of our students through the development of strong study skills and prudent organization habits. We assist our students as they begin building the foundations of self-discipline, decision making and social interaction.

Welcome to Christian Brothers Academy. Our 9th Grade guidance program is designed to help students with their transition to high school and to begin developing their own self-awareness skills. Our counselors place an emphasis on involvement in the CBA community, building strong study habits and creating bonds with their classmates.

The 10th Grade program is designed to continue building on the foundations that were built in year one. Our counselors work with students to help them understand their individual learning style and to begin the framework of the college search process. CBA Sophomores will spend time mastering Naviance and utilizing a variety of the tools available to them.

The college search process truly begins during Junior year. During this pivotal year, our students work with their counselor to build a prospective college list based on their academic, career and extracurricular interests. Through a combination of individual and small group meetings, counselors will provide an in-depth overview of the college admission process and help students understand all of the steps that applying to college entails.

In 12th Grade, our focus shifts to the college application and selection process. Our students will have the opportunity to meet with college representatives who visit campus and will continue to finalize the list of colleges they will be applying to. Our counselors are here to assist students with the decision making process and will help our Seniors reflect on their time spent at CBA.
