On Saturday, January 27, 2018, 15 middle school members of the Lego Robotics Team competed at a First Lego League qualifier tournament at Suny Polytechnic in Albany. The theme of this years tournament was HydroDynamics. CBA housed 2 teams – the CBA Bro Bots and the CBA Brick Brothers.
Both teams prepared and delivered 3 presentations in front of a panel of judges. Their presentations included researching a problem and solution within the water cycle, Robot Design, and Core Values. First Lego League Core Values include Discovery, Inclusion, Gracious Professionalism and “Cooperition”, a term coined by FLL that combines Cooperation and Competition. In addition to this, the boys built and developed computer programs to make a robot that they designed and built to run autonomously to complete tasks for a set point value.
After several months of work, both teams performed extraordinarily and the CBA Brick Brothers brought home 1st place for Core Values! “It was a prideful moment for the team and CBA,” commented Coach Dr. Andrade.
